Bekpro FW18

Here's the 411...

Bekpro, the boychild of native Los Angeles fashion designer, Grace Chang, is a casual menswear brand that I guess you could say is actually creating sparks. Their first ever runway show included live welding and was hosted at Central Steel & Iron Works, a welding business owned by Chang’s family for over 30 years.

This is the first of what’s to come for Bekpro who’s rising popularity in Japan and Paris was brought back to its Huntington Park hometown for an afternoon affair. The venue was (mostly) untouched for the show making it dusty, dangerous, and damn perfect – with ‘Bekpro blue’ accents represented by recycling bins and classic blue tarps.

An exploration of the less glamorous jobs of LA, the FW18 show featured drawstring cuffs, reflective accents, and dead stock orthopedic shoes. It could be Grace’s female POV on men’s fashion or her roots in the welding industry – either way, this workwear inspired line manages to include a tie-back dress shirt that still feel “no frills.”
