Halloween Playlist: Supernatural Sounds

WORDS + PLAYLIST BY: OLIVIA MORREALE

October 31st is right around the corner and it’s time to get in the zone. Although your cardio bunny friends may be echoing the infamous Karen from Mean Girls question (“Why are you dressed so SCARY?!”), you live for the haunt and you know it. Good news–your favorite musicians have been capitalizing on the supernatural sound of ghosts, aliens, and drum machines to instill fall-flavored fear in their listeners for decades.

We’re absolutely convinced that some of music’s greatest pioneers, both past and present, must be aliens; from MUNA’s haunting vocals to Mica Levi’s incredible string arrangement to David Bowie in general, these people are clearly in contact with supernatural forces. Whatever spooky kickback or pregame you’re planning on attending this month, WestwoodWestwood has your playlist covered from The Police to the latest from Tei Shi. And yes, the obligatory “Thriller” has been included.
